Dr Michelle Kilpatrick

Research Fellow - Menzies Institute for Medical Research

"I’m driven in the work that I do, to be making a difference. Even if it’s in a small way, the idea that we are making a meaningful difference to an individual or a community is pretty great."

Michelle is living proof that the path to a career in STEMM is not always a direct one, having started her working life as a professional french horn player. She is now an epidemiologist and research fellow based at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. She considers herself a jill of all trades, master of some, having worked in health and mental health promotion, implementation science, and has a keen interest in research translation and dissemination. Photography, gardening, and cooking up a storm with produce from her garden are other things that keep her balanced, healthy and somewhat sane.
