Kimberley de Souza

 Plant Metallurgist

"I am proud of the fact that I am now self-confident enough to express my views and to push ideas forward and be a leader in the workplace"

Kimberley grew up in the Middle East in a tiny oil and gas housing community - 250 km from the nearest city. She relocated to Pune- India to complete her Bachelors in Chemical Engineering and in her penultimate year built a microwave reactor to synthesise biodiesel from an indigenous plant.  This earned her a scholarship at UNR where she pursued a Masters in Material Science and Engineering. Realising her true passion was chemical engineering, she went on to complete a Masters in Chemical Engineering. She moved to Australia in 2016 seeking greater equality of opportunity to perform field based roles. Her previous experience included pilot plant test work for a food and beverage equipment manufacturer in Griffith NSW, pilot plant engineer in a facility that made material for batteries in Brisbane QLD, and is currently employed at NYRSTAR, Hobart as a production metallurgist.
