Dr Sarah Lyden

Lecturer - Engineering, University of Tasmania

“I would like to make women in the engineering profession more visible. Throughout my career I have tried to encourage more women to get involved in engineering and this gallery was a good platform to put women up front”

Despite being immersed in the male dominated STEMM field of engineering, Dr Sarah Lyden’s passion for renewable and sustainable energy has led her to the position of senior lecturer at the School of Engineering at the University of Tasmania. Encouraging more women to pursue engineering and seeing her students succeed are what she finds most rewarding about her career in STEMM. Sarah particularly enjoys teaching the Engineers Without Borders challenge, a year 1 engineering challenge which focuses on humanitarian engineering, to students at UTAS, which she has been doing since 2018.
