Dr Courtney Quinn

Postdoctoral researcher - CSIRO

“In my particular field of mathematics there is not a lot of young women representation.  It is really important to show diversity in all fields of STEMM to motivate people that you can have this kind of career as a young woman.”

Courtney grew up in the Philadelphia region in the USA where she attended a local university for her undergraduate studies, majoring in mathematics and violin performance.  Following a Master’s degree in Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics at the University of Leeds, Courtney began a PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of Exeter which was funded by a European Union initiative. Courtney works at CSIRO researching delay effects and critical transitions in climate.
